1hr 30min Lecture, up to 2hr lab each week
final 5 lab sessions will be for foundry work

Lecture component will consist of discussion groups with alternating student leaders,
Discussion leaders will begin with a brief 5 min recap of the readings before beginning and
leading discussion
Final Assignment:
Create a replica of a small ancient metal artifact and write a 5-7 page paper about either how it was
used, the trade networks which brought the ore to the original item’s creation site, processes used
in antiquity for making it, etc.
